New Zealand - A Natural Adventure

11 Days

New Zealand - a Natural Playground map, copyright A&K A&K’s “natural adventure” concept originated in — and is ideally suited for — New Zealand. Choose from a vast array of outdoor activities while travelling in comfort with like-minded explorers.

the A&K Advantage:

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: USA or Canada / Auckland, New Zealand
Depart on an overnight flight to New Zealand.

Day 2: International Date Line
We cross the International Dateline and 'lose' a day to be recovered on the return trip.

Day 3: Auckland
Your room is available for immediate occupancy, and there’s time to relax this morning before setting off for a panoramic look at Auckland, “city of sails,” and a stop at the Auckland Museum to learn about the country’s history and culture. A relaxed welcome dinner this evening is an ideal opportunity to get to know fellow travellers.
Langham Hotel Auckland: L, D

Day 4: Auckland / Coromandel Peninsula
Board an America’s Cup sailing yacht where, with the help of the experienced crew, you’ll trim the sails, steer the ship or simply sit back and enjoy magnificent Waitemata Harbour. After the cruise drive south, with a lunch stop en route, to the Coromandel Peninsula wilderness area.
Mercure Grand Puka Park Resort: B, L, D

A full day of wilderness exploration with local personality “Kiwi Dundee.” Explore mountains and sandy coastlines with a stop for a picnic lunch. Visit a historic Maori Pa (a fortified village) and, tides permitting, splash in the shallows of unique Hot Water Beach.

Heritage Hotel: B, L, D

Day 8: Queenstown
Drive along the shores of Lake Wakatipu to board Dart River jetboats for a breathtaking ride through pristine wilderness. After a picnic lunch at water’s edge, paddle in funyaks (inflatable canoes) for a completely different Dart River experience. This evening, enjoy a traditional Maori dinner where singers and dancers provide an entertaining insight into Maori customs and culture.
Heritage Hotel: B, L, D

Milford Sound Day 9: Queenstown / Christchurch
Say goodbye to Queenstown this morning before boarding a mid-afternoon flight to Christchurch. After a brief tour of the town, described as “more English than England,” drift in a punt along the tree-lined River Avon.
Crowne Plaza: B

Day 10: Christchurch
An early-morning drive ends at the old whaling town of Akaroa, where you cruise the harbor and have an opportunity to don wetsuits and swim with a pod of miniature dolphins.
