Depart the USA or Canada by overnight flight. On arrival in Tel Aviv you are met and transferred to your hotel in nearby Jerusalem.

A day of expeditions in the remarkable Old City begins at the Mount of Olives overlooking Jerusalem and the Garden of Gethsemane. Visit the Western Wall and view the temple area with the Al-Aksa Mosque and Dome of the Rock. In the Jewish Quarter, visit renovated synagogues and in the Herodean Quarter, Burnt House, the remains of a priest's dwelling from the Herodean dynasty. Walk the Via Dolorosa, passing by the Stations of the Cross and ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

Drive along the Dead Sea to Masada. Here a cable car takes you to the site of the tragic Roman siege of a Jewish zealot stronghold. Stop at Qumran where the Dead Sea scrolls were found.

Today, pass the Knesset, Israel's Parliament, en route to the Israeli Museum to view the Dead Sea scrolls. Visit Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Memorial, and then travel to Bethlehem. View the Church of Nativity and visit the Shepherd's Fields in Beit Sahour where, according to the Bible, an angel announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds.

Drive north through the Jordan Valley to Beit Shean to visit the Roman theater. Continue to Nazareth to visit the Church of Annunciation and Mary's Well before reaching Cana, the site of Christ's first miracle.

Biblical echoes prevail as you board a boat to Capernaum to visit St. Peter's house and the Mount of Beatitudes. In the afternoon, drive up to the Golan Heights for more modern reflections.
