Days 1-2:
In Amman, transfer to your hotel.

DAYS 3-5:
Visit the Citadel, the Archeological Museum, the Roman Theater and the Folklore Museum, then walk downtown through the bazaars and the Gold Market to Darat al Funun, the artistic center of Jordan. Explore Um Qais and Jerash. Proceed to Mount Nebo and the Panorama Museum, which overlooks the Dead Sea.

DAY 6:
Drive via the King's Highway to Dana to explore the terraced gardens and visit a traditional bakery, jam factory, and a soap and silver workshop. Dinner is prepared by the local women in the village.

DAY 7:
Walk around the Nature Reserve, then continue to Petra. After lunch visit the "Little Petra" site. This evening prepare an evening meal working alongside local women under the supervision of an experienced chef.

DAY 8:
Spend a full day exploring the "Rose Red" city of Petra, sculpted from a mountain by the Nabataeans in the third century BC.

DAY 9:
Enjoy a second visit to magnificent Petra, then drive south to Wadi Rum. Explore the desert before experiencing a traditional Bedouin dinner under tents.

DAYS 10-11:
Drive to the Dead Sea and "float" on the surface of its buoyant waters. Visit Bethany Beyond the Jordan, site of Jesus' baptism. Enjoy a full day of leisure at your Dead Sea resort.

DAY 12:
Drive to Amman and continue your journey.

DAYS 1-2:
Fly to Damascus and transfer to your hotel.

DAY 3:
Spend the day visiting the sights of Damascus before bargaining at the old souks and khans.

DAY 4:
Drive to Shahba to view the ruins of a Roman theater, baths and temples and visit the local museum. Continue on to Bosra, the Roman capital.

DAY 5:
Drive to Palmyra and visit the Baal-Shamin Temple, the Arch of Triumph, and the Roman amphitheater and baths.

DAY 6:
Cross the desert to Rasafa, an emerald oasis on the caravan route. Drive to the 12th-century Jaabar Citadel on the Euphrates.

DAY 7:
Tour Aleppo's fortress, the Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a city tour with stops at the National Museum, Grand Mosque and covered bazaars.

DAY 8:
Visit Salah el-Din's castle and then drive to Ugarit, the capital of the Canaanites' kingdom in the second millennium BC.

DAY 9:
Drive to Apamea, a center for philosophy during the Christian era. After lunch, tour Hama, a site of human habitation since the Iron Age.

DAY 10:
Visit Crac des Chevaliers, an impressive crusaders' castle, before driving to the Christian village of Maaloula.

DAY 11:
Board your onward flight.
