Australia and New Zealand with Abercrombie & Kent
A&K in The South Pacific
Pre and Post Convention Tours
"On-Site" Professionals in the Abercrombie & Kent Australia and New Zealand offices work in office throughout the country. Their on the spot knowledge and experience make a tremendous difference in the quality of your tour.
Before Your Holiday Begins, you'll receive a packet of materials designed to help you prepare for your trip. On the practical side, this includes confirmation forms and visa applications. On a less mundane level, helpful travel information and a guidebook on your destination provide substance for your pre-departure plans and daydreams.
Erasing Jet Lag can be a problem for travellers affected by long flights over many time zones. If you prefer to arrive in the South Pacific a day or so before your tour begins to relax and recover on your own, we can arrange for your hotel and any other services you require.
"Guardian Angel" Service, 24-7, is provided in the person of your tour guide, there to help you at any time during your tour. Independent travellers in Australia and New Zealand receive a list of emergency telephone numbers for A&K Directors and senior managers, available for assistance and advice whenever it's needed.
Abercrombie & Kent travel in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific is different - and better - than the programs offered by other tour operators. A&K has combined the company's thirty-eight years of experience with their personal knowledge of the elements necessary for a truly outstanding holiday in the Southern Hemisphere. The resulting programs are unique and, their guests tell us, "simply the best" way to enjoy the many and varied pleasures of this remarkable part of the world.

Carefully-Designed Itineraries take all aspects of your travel experience into account. Ports of call are carefully selected to provide a comprehensive introduction to your destination, active days are paced to energize, not exhaust, and there's a good balance between group activities and leisure time to explore on your own. Your tour stops follow a logical sequence, so your knowledge and appreciation of the country grows with each exciting day.
The Best Available Transport - from an air-conditioned minibus to an exhilarating jetboat - ensures that you'll travel in the most efficient and comfortable style for every environment and activity on your itinerary. A&K ensures that 20-25% of motor coach seats remain empty, so there's room to stretch out and stow all of your hand baggage comfortably aboard. Their coach drivers are handpicked, not only for their safe driving skills but for their cheerful personalities and willingness to help.
Great Dining Events are more than delicious meals - they can often "open a door" to an experience visitors might otherwise miss. In New Zealand, many tours include a home hosted dinner with a local family. On Kangaroo Island, your naturalist guide creates the best open-air barbecue imaginable. At Ayers Rock, you dine under the stars of the Outback sky. On some nights, you are free to dine on your own and experience some of the great local restaurants.
Single Travellers can request shared accommodation on tour, and A&K will make every effort to arrange it. (If the request cannot be honored, the single supplement will apply.)
Nothing has so great an effect on the all important 'atmosphere' of a trip as the size of the group with which you travel. Why has A&K established such stringent size restrictions when the economic advantages of big-bigger-biggest groups are so compelling that they have become the standard for most escorted travel? Simple. A&K values the quality of the experience that their tour participants enjoy as they travel with A&K.
On each of these Rotary pre and post convention programs, we have designed these tours to accommodate up to 14 guests. You can travel on a private basis with your own guide, or travel with a small group of your fellow Rotarians. Note that we need a minimum of 4 passengers on each departure to offer a lower group rate (we can still put together a private tour for 2, but costs will be higher). If you have several members from your local club, we would be happy to customize one of these tours just for your local club.
Who wants to travel in a crowd? Certainly not A&K travellers. No one likes to feel that he or she is part of an anonymous crowd of people being herded through the public places of Australia and New Zealand. Small groups not only allow your escort to get to know you on a person-to-person basis, but they allow you to visit less-visited corners of the world without bringing your own crowd along. You don't get 'lost in the shuffle', and escorts, guides, waiters and all other service people are always right on hand to help.
Stretch Out and Relax on the road, where you'll not only travel in the most efficient and best available style for every environment and activity on your itinerary, you'll also have room to stretch out and relax as you go. Small groups eliminate the need to 'shoe horn' travellers into transport vehicles, and all have extra seating (and room to stow hand baggage) over and above passengers' needs.
Closed Doors Open to small groups. You'll see more than just the famous sights everyone visits. Unusual sightseeing stops such as working ranches, artists' studios and home visits are generally inaccessible to large groups - but not to A&K. Traveling in a small group makes it possible to step behind the scenes for a glimpse into an Australia or New Zealand that most visitors miss.
Want a different itinerary than the ones we have put together and still want to travel in style? Not a problem. Give us a call so we can discuss what you want to do. Based on your budget and preferences and the number of people in your party, we will put together a custom itinerary. Want to include Melbourne, Adelaide, Darwin, Tazmania? Just let us know what you want to see and we will put together an itinerary.
These short itineraries are designed to be taken before or after the convention. Feel free to visit Australia before the convention and New Zealand after the convention. Mix and match to fit your schedule.
We have special business class fares to the South Pacific. We can also combine your international fares to get you an 'explore Australia' pass to save money on your internal flights. We will provide air pricing on request with any of the programs we offer.
